5. Application of Content
I always want to ensure students are able to showcase any prior knowledge they may know. This not only allows me to see what the students may already know but as well as making it a teachable moment for the students to their peers. I like to prepare supplement practices for my students learning the content. I like to make sure that students are provided with material that they are interested in. Intervention is small group centers we use in time class. Each center is designed for specific topics or areas of practice we are focusing on during that week. For each small group, I like to incorporate some type of manipulative where students are able to use hands-on materials. For example, when it came to teaching arrays in math, I had used pop where the students were able to physically pop the arrays on the pop it so they can visually see the array. I also prepare a handout where the students are able to record their knowledge. Most times I like to create my own worksheets to help fit with any specific assessment data I believe students may struggle with and to work better on. I also like to collect them at the end to ensure accountability as well as view the performance and accuracy of students.
