7. Planning for Instruction
When it comes to any preparation for a lesson, I always make sure I view the standards and the end goals for the students to take away from the lesson or activity. For every lesson, I always make sure I have not only a physical as well as a digital copy of any handouts or supplemental worksheets I use. I use file folders to help keep the student's work organized so I know I have their work on hand at all times. Below I have attached a writing lesson on sequence writing that is related to Saint Patrick’s day. This writing had numerous components where I incorporated a book that introduced the steps of trapping a leprechaun. This writing had a graphic organizer where the students would sketch out their plans as well as organize them throughout the process. There were set criteria and a rubric the students had to follow. The students would also transfer over to a final draft and there was a craft that was included to help showcase their sequence writing.
